A true story, arriving and unfolding one letter at a time.

Read To You

Instead of another email, notification, or piece of content to scroll past, Letters From a Nomad arrives slowly — as real correspondence in your mailbox.

Twice each month, receive the next letter in a beautifully crafted correspondence series, written as though it were mailed from that moment in my life. Together, the letters unfold one chapter at a time into a complete twelve-month journey.

Every mailing includes the next full installment of the story in the form of a 4+ full page letter, along with photographs, maps, field notes, recipes, keepsakes, or other pieces connected to that chapter.

And, if you like, you can sit back in your favorite chair with a nice, hot coffee or tea, open each letter, pull up the audio recordings page on the website using a QR code, and let me read it to you — stories from my very uncommon life, in my own words and my own voice. 💙

A true story about the neuro-spicy relationship between a non-binary being and the universe.

The Story

"This feels like Hunter S Thompson — only immersive and personal!"

— early reader response

The story begins in 1999, inside the beautiful, strange, and spiritually charged Southern California world I once lived in — a world of full moon gatherings in the desert, creative community, music, meditation, art, psychedelics, devotion, chosen family, and the overwhelming feeling that life itself was opening into something larger.

These opening letters move through the beauty of that time, the people I loved, the reality we were dreaming together, and the changes that eventually turned my world upside down, left me homeless and depressed in Venice Beach, and led me toward the first true steps of my nomadic life.

The opening letters move through:

  • The luminous life before the road
  • A beautiful, supportive relationship
  • Monthly full moon gatherings in the desert
  • A deeply soul-connected creative community
  • The loss of that world, and sudden homelessness in LA
  • A transformational dark night of the soul on mushrooms in a Venice Beach garage
  • A Nevada desert gathering in 2003 as a threshold to a new life
  • The surreal red double-decker bus ride north to British Columbia
  • Staying with a friend’s family and working on a cannabis farm
  • Life-changing experiences in an intentional community in the mountains of BC
  • The beginning of a long raw foods journey
  • A life lived more fully outside the expected path

From there, the story continues through movement, magic, intense beauty, difficulty, deep loss, freedom, solitude, meditation, authenticity, cats, vehicles, and places I lived and loved — Topanga Canyon, Portland, Seattle, Mount Shasta, Santa Cruz, Arizona, and beyond.

By the end I understood how you ended up in LA, but now I want to know WHY you were supposed to be there and what happens next!

— early reader response

Before the psychedelic beats and barefoot dancing in the desert, the moon was already calling.

Before The Road Here begins, there is one more threshold you can cross.

Letter No. 0: Follow the Moon is a free prequel letter from the edge of the story — the moment before Los Angeles began to make sense, before the full-moon gatherings, before the community, before everything opened up and changed forever — when leaving Colorado and driving West.

Enter your name and email below, and immediately download a PDF of the free letter, so you can begin experiencing the world of Letters From a Nomad now.

I’ll also send you some companion pieces to the prequel as a gift:

  • A few photographs to accompany the story
  • An audio reading of Letter No. 0 in my voice

FAQ

What is Letters From a Nomad: The Road Here?

Letters From a Nomad: The Road Here is a 12 month serialized correspondence experience told through 24 beautiful and vulnerable letters, written as though they were mailed from the moments in which they happened.

Alongside the letters are thoughtfully designed printed companions that deepen the experience of each chapter and bring the story into your hands.

Twice each month, mailed on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month, you receive the next chapter in a complete twelve-month correspondence series, true stories from my life delivered as beautifully designed physical mail.

I personally write and design everything that comes with each letter you receive, including the envelopes.

Do I start from the beginning?

Yes. Every subscriber begins with Letter  #1.

The Road Here is a complete 12 month, 24 letter correspondence series designed to be experienced in order. Each letter builds on the last, revealing a true story with a beginning, a middle, and an end.

How long is each letter?

Every letter is at least two full sheets printed front and back — four pages in all — and some letters will be even longer. Enough to take you more deeply into the story in several meaningful ways.

Does the story ever end?

The story does not end here, but this series does. The Road Here: 1999-2009 is a complete 12-month correspondence series consisting of 24 letters. When you reach the final letter, you’ll have experienced one complete era of my life.

If you’d like to continue walking beside me, three other wanderings on the road are on their way.

Continue down the road with The Road Here: 2009-2018 and join me as Gabriella and I leave Mt. Madonna near Santa Cruz, CA and hit the road in Vanthony — Sedona, Miami, the Florida Keys, Asheville, Las Vegas, Colorado, deserts, mountains, forests, hot springs, intentional communities, and more — all eventually leading to here and now.

You’ll soon be able to step further back in time and experience my wild, chaotic, transformational, and deeply foundational years in NYC in the 90s during the AIDS crisis and the height of NYC club culture, told through another immersive correspondence series.

And after I leave Texas, you can join me in real time for European Adventures — a present-moment correspondence series written from the road as life unfolds.

Why letters?

Because some stories deserve more than a screen.

We spend so much of our lives scrolling, skimming, and moving on to the next thing. Letters invite something different. They give us the opportunity to slow down, hold a story in our hands, and spend time with it.

A beautifully written letter arrives with intention. It waits patiently until you're ready. You can read it in your favorite chair, tuck it into a book, return to it weeks later, and keep it for years.

In a world designed for speed and constant distraction, I believe some stories are worth experiencing more slowly.

Are these letters written from the past or the present?

The Road Here is written as though each letter were mailed from that particular moment in my life, from the perspective and understanding I had at the time.

Rather than looking back with decades of hindsight, you'll experience the story as it unfolded, and I as awakened and became more of my self, one letter at a time.

The result is a slower, more immersive journey that feels less like reading a memoir and more like receiving letters from an old friend.

Is this AI generated?

No. It is written by me, Blue Cobalt, from my own real memories and lived experiences.

The photographs are either images I have taken myself or images I have permission to reprint. Photographs from the actual memories are used whenever possible, or photographs I took at the same location. I occasionally use licensed real photography to evoke the feeling of a memory when an original photograph isn’t available. Every part of this correspondence is rooted in real life.

What does “Let me read to you” mean?

With every letter, I also record an audio version in my own voice. You can read the physical letter yourself, listen as I read it to you, or follow along with the letter in your hands.

You’ll have access to a private listening page where the recordings you’ve received become part of a growing audio library. Listen before your letter arrives, afterward, or while you’re reading it. There’s no right order.

The physical letter is still the heart of Letters From a Nomad. The recording is simply another way for me to share the story with you.

Is this a good gift?

Yes, Letters From a Nomad: The Road Here would be a great gift for someone who loves:

  • Real letters in the mail
  • Immersive storytelling and beautiful correspondence
  • Unconventional lives
  • Travel, road life, and nomadic living
  • Mindfulness and conscious living
  • Slow, thoughtful experiences in this increasingly digital world

It is especially good for someone who values meaning over mass-produced gifts.

What is Founding pricing?

Be one of the first 100 Founding subscribers and receive The Road Here for $18 per month or $180 prepaid for the complete 24-letter series.

You'll keep your Founding price for the entire The Road Here: 1999-2009 series for as long as you remain subscribed, even if you pause your subscription at any time. Plus, you'll receive special founding subscriber discounts to future Letters From a Nomad series.

How does the Complete Series plan work?

The Complete Series lets you obtain all 24 letters of The Road Here with one payment of $180. You’ll save $36 compared with the Monthly plan — the equivalent of two months free — and there are no recurring charges.

Your letters will still arrive twice each month, beginning with Letter #1 and continuing in order through the twelve-month series. They are not mailed all at once. The story unfolds at the same thoughtful pace as it does for monthly subscribers.

If you ever need to pause delivery, just contact me. I’ll hold your remaining letters until you’re ready to continue.

Why isn’t the upcoming 1st or 3rd Wednesday mailing date available?

Mailing dates close at 11:59pm on the preceding Saturday, so I have enough time to prepare each order carefully. The calendar always shows the next dates currently available.

Do I have to pay shipping?

No. USPS First-Class Mail is included in your subscription price.

I want the experience to be as simple as possible. There are no surprise shipping charges added at checkout. Your subscription covers everything — from the design and printing to the packaging, postage, and delivery of each letter and its printed companions.

Do I have to pay sales taxes?

Currently, sales tax is charged only on orders shipped to Texas, where I am based. If that changes as the business grows, any applicable tax will always be calculated clearly during checkout.

Can I pause my subscription?

Yes. You can pause the Monthly plan at any time through your customer account. You will not be charged again until you restart it.

If you purchased the Complete Series and need to pause delivery, just contact me. I’ll hold your remaining letters until you’re ready to resume.

Can I cancel?

Yes. You can cancel the Monthly plan at any time through your customer account. You will not be charged again after cancellation.

A Complete Series purchase may be canceled for a full refund before the first letter ships or within 30 days of the first letter’s ship date. Any letters already delivered are yours to keep.

Do you offer a money-back guarantee?

Yes. I want you to have enough time to actually receive a couple of letters and sit with them.

You have up to 30 days from your first letter ship date to decide whether The Road Here is right for you. If not, contact me and I’ll give you a full refund. You may keep any letters already delivered as my gift.

Will I receive tracking information?

There is no tracking on Letters From a Nomad mailings. Because they travel as First-Class letters, they aren't individually tracked.

Why isn't every letter tracked?

Tracking letter mailings would significantly increase the subscription price. The letters travel as First-Class Mail, the same way personal correspondence has for generations. This helps keep the subscription affordable while preserving the experience of receiving real letters in your mailbox.

Why does my Complete Series show as “Paused” in Subscription Management in my customer account?

The Complete Series is a prepaid, finite subscription. The system will display it as Paused after the one-time billing schedule has been completed, so you don't get charged again, while though your remaining letters are still active and scheduled for mailing.

You do not need to take any action. No further payments will be processed for the Complete Series, and all remaining letters will continue to be mailed as scheduled.

Meet the Life Behind the Letters

My name is Blue Cobalt. I'm a non-binary, neuro-spicy, zen, nomad at heart, raw foodie, cat servant, seahorse steward, filmmaker, artist, and sustainable fashion designer.

Letters From a Nomad comes from a life I have actually lived — years in vehicles, desert mornings, raw meals on the road, cats curled into tiny homes, spiritual searching, creative work, deep loss, beauty, transformation, and the long practice of becoming more honestly myself.

I am not writing this as fiction or fantasy.

These letters are drawn from real places, real experiences, and the road that shaped me — written as though each one were coming from an old friend, mailed from the moment in which it happened.

Each mailing is created, designed, and sent with care, as an invitation to walk through the story with me, one letter at a time.

Letters From a Nomad is such a unique and incredible concept! Each letter takes you on a journey through real life adventures, filled with fascinating stories and experiences from years past. The storytelling is so vivid and captivating that you almost feel like you’re watching a movie unfold right in front of you. It’s amazing how a simple letter can transport you to another place and time.

There’s something really special about getting to experience the world through someone else’s eyes, especially through stories that were actually written during those adventures. It’s personal, nostalgic, and unlike anything else I’ve come across. I absolutely love this concept and can’t wait to see where these letters take us next! Highly recommend!
